Age Statements

Aging whisky is a crucial process that significantly impacts its flavour and character. As whisky matures in oak casks, it absorbs flavours from the wood, undergoes chemical changes, and becomes smoother and more complex over time. Different types of casks, such as ex-bourbon and sherry casks, contribute distinct influences to the whisky. Older whiskies develop deeper, more complex flavours as they interact with the wood. However, age is not always the sole indicator of quality. Non-age statement (NAS) whiskies focus on the overall quality and flavour profile, rather than a specific age. These whiskies are crafted with careful blending, combining spirits of different ages and cask types to create a unique taste, often offering fresh, vibrant flavours while challenging the traditional focus on age.
