Tomatin Tasting… A Night to Remember

Tomatin Tasting… A Night to Remember

On Saturday the 1st of June Scott Adamson, the Global Brand Manager and Blender, from Tomatin Distillery joined us at the golf club for a whisky tasting that will be hard to forget.

The night was made up of six excellent whiskies; Tomatin 12, Tomatin 12 Sherry, Tomatin 14, Tomatin 18, Cu Bocan 12 and Cu Bocan Creation #6, and an added extra of Tomatins new make spirit halfway through which was extremely interesting to try.

Iain started the night off, as always, with a warm welcome to everyone, the layout of the night, and an introduction to Scott.  Scott then took to the floor and boy what a job he did!! He is a natural storyteller and had every single person in the room either awestruck or belly ache laughing at different points in the night.

Everyone got a fantastic insight into the history of Tomatin Distillery, the way things have changed over the years, and how it all works now. Especially when it came to Scott talking about Cu Bocan as he is one of the blenders working on putting these creations together. We were lucky enough to try the new release Cu Bocan Creation #6 in the tasting and trying it while being talked through it all from one of the blenders and brains behind it all. This was an incredible experience for us all.

We were very fortunate to have tried Tomatins new make spirit in the middle of the tasting, which was an interesting experience for us all. As it is 68.6% ABV we were told to take a small sip, which some people did others had finished their dram by the time he gave the instructions, those that did were told to leave it on their tongue and let it evaporate which it did and almost felt like popping candy on the tongue. After that we were told to put a little on our hands and rub them together and then we smelt the spirit on our hands, it was very earthy, with malty aromas coming from it. It was a great addition to the tasting and a very interesting experiment.

The whole night from start to finish was one to remember; from incredible whisky, loved by all those who attended, to how interesting and funny Scott was throughout presenting the evening, all those who attended the tasting extremely enjoyed their night!

We are extremely fortunate to have a close working relationship with Tomatin Distillery and are proud to be a stockist of their deliciously smooth whiskies.
